Airbus Group has started construction of a new office campus in five hectares of land next to the Blagnac Airport in Toulouse, France.

The new campus will house the company’s headquarters, a building for support and shared services, a security control room, a canteen, fitness center, concierge and welfare services, the company announced Tuesday.

The company expects that more than 1,5000 people will work at the campus.

“Toulouse is the ideal place because it is our largest industrial site and because of the co-location with the Airbus commercial aircraft management,” said Tom Enders, Airbus chief executive officer.

Calvo Tran Van, a Toulouse-based architect, was selected for the project.

The buildings will be certified according to the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method.

The campus is set to be completed by the end of 2015.
