satellite airforceBall Aerospace & Technologies has wrapped up integration work on DigitalGlobe‘s commercial satellite that is built to collect high-resolution images of the Earth.

The WorldView-3 will be the fourth satellite in DigitalGlobe’s remote-sensing constellation and is scheduled for launch this summer at Vanderberg Air Force Base, Calif., Ball Aerospace said Monday.

Cary Ludtke, Ball Aerospace vice president and general manager for operational space, said the platform is intended to deliver satellite-based geospatial data to commercial and government customers.

The spacecraft contains Ball Aerospace’s atmospheric monitoring technology CAVIS, which is built to take near-Earth objects’ images through dust, haze and soot.

WorldView-3’s bus structure is set to undergo system performance, thermal vacuum and environmental tests.
