fluid analysisLockheed Martin Corp. has provided Spectro Inc. with a license to develop fresh fluid analysis tools using Lockheed’s fluid imaging and classification system.

Spectro intends to build new analytics software for fluid and machine status monitoring based on the desktop version of Lockheed Martin’s LaserNet Fines technology, Spectro said Wednesday.

The LNF system works to classify particle shapes and determine the number of particles larger than 4 micrometers using a charged coupled device camera and pattern recognition software.

Colleen Arthur, director of integrated defense technologies for Lockheed Martin’s mission systems and training business, said the company wants to expand its LaserNet Fines-Online product for fluid sampling and condition-based maintenance.

Spectro uses the LNF technology for its LNF Q200 desktop unit designed to analyze particle size, count, shape data and viscosity.
