Matt KayeSterling Global Operations worked with seismic surveying company Terraseis to remove mines and unexploded bombs from a 154-square-mile land in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

The de-mining effort was executed to allow for oil and gas exploration in that area situated near the Iraq-Iran boundary, SGO said Wednesday.

“In the 1980s Iraq fought an eight-year war with Iran, and since 1991 the U.S. and its coalition partners have conducted Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom,” said Matt Kaye, SGO CEO.
