Michael RobinsonMicrosoft has showcased a range of new Windows-powered devices, applications and service offerings for healthcare clients at the annual HIMSS conference and exhibition in Orlando, Fla.

The health IT products are designed to help clinicians access electronic medical records, manage mobile care applications and collaborate with other healthcare providers anywhere, Microsoft said Monday.

“Finding mobile solutions that can improve clinician productivity, empower patients to improve their health and address the need to complement existing EMR systems is critical,” said Michael Robinson, Microsoft vice president for U.S. health and life sciences.

Microsoft partner Epic, designed an app for users to manage workflows in a clinical setting using a Windows 8 tablet.

Allscripts unveiled another healthcare app based on Windows 8.1 built with camera, voice and navigation features and can run on a mobile device and a desktop simultaneously.

Microsoft says AirStrip released a Windows 8 version of a clinician app designed to help doctors assess electrocardiogram results from computer or mobile workstations.

Organizations such as Seattle Children’s Hospital, Aegis Living and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society are using Microsoft Surface Pro tablet computers to manage care delivery, according to the article.
