cyber, computerA Battelle-led energy consortium has been awarded a contract option to continue to manage the Idaho National Laboratory for five more years through Sept. 30, 2019.

The Energy Department exercised the option under a 10-year contract the agency initially awarded to Battelle Energy Alliance in November 2004, the lab said Thursday.

BEA members include URS Corp., The Babcock & Wilcox Co., Electric Power Research and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

INL works with academic, government and business organizations to develop technology in fields such as nuclear energy, national security and environmental areas.
