Exelis-logo, ExecutiveMosaicA suite oif Exelis products used to detect and locate interference against GPS systems was used during Super Bowl XLVIII, held Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Law enforcement officials used Signal Sentry 1000 to protect critical GPS infrastructure during the game as they worked to detect and locate potential jamming sources, Exelis said Wednesday.

“Protecting critical GPS infrastructure is extremely important for public safety,” said Mark Pisani, Exelis Geospatial Systems vice president and general manager of positioning, navigation and timing.

Officials used GPS devices o track and monitor the location of team members and officials during the game, while event organizers and security teams used GPS to pinpoint locations of team vehicles en route to the stadium.

Exelis deployed eight Signal Sentry sensors in an array pattern  as part of a centralized server.
