Mitre-logoMITRE Corp. and the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation have launched a training program for air navigation service providers, civil aviation authorities and industry partners on the implementation of the Aviation System Block Upgrades framework, both organizations said Monday.

Jeff Poole, CANSO director general, said training on the International Civil Aviation Organization’s ASBU methodology is expected to guide the planning and modernization of air traffic management systems.

“CANSO has already worked with The MITRE Corporation to produce an easy to understand document, Introduction to ASBU Modules, and I am delighted that we can complement this with this essential five-day course for States, air navigation service providers, and industry partners,” Poole said.

The course, called Methodology and Best Practices for ASBU Implementation, will cover ASBU implementation issues such as capability gaps and business case development.

“We are pleased to collaborate with CANSO to offer this course that furthers the goal of global aviation harmonization,” said Lillian Zarrelli Ryals, senior vice president and general manager of MITRE’s Center for Advanced Aviation System Development.

The ASBU framework is intended to streamline ATM improvement programs and achieve safety, environmental performance and aviation efficiency.
