ChromebookGoogle has partnered with Citrix to provide customers with access to Windows applications via the Google-developed Chromebook computers.

Citrix’s XenApp virtual app, HDX technology and HTML5 Receiver products will be integrated into the Chromebook for users to perform business operations by using Windows apps, Citrix said Tuesday.

“With the growing acceptance of new computing platforms in the enterprise, like Chrome, we are helping Chromebook users get access to these business-critical apps anywhere and at any time,” said Sudhakar Ramakrishna, senior vice president general manager of enterprise and service provider division at Citrix.

Chromebooks will be combined with Citrix’s web-based GoToMeeting Free collaboration tool for video conferencing.

Citrix has also reduced the price of its XenApp platinum version containing the AppDNA application management system in a move to help users upgrade to new Windows versions as Microsoft ended support for the legacy Windows XP.

Google and Citrix are scheduled to conduct joint seminars on April 22 and May 13 to educate customers on how to leverage a XenApp-integrated Chromebook.
