Big Data, AppsRed Hat and SAP have partnered to help developers code and design enterprise data management applications that work to run on OpenShift cloud environments.

The companies intend to offer technology cartridges for SAP’s Adaptive Server, IQ and SQL programs for developers to use with Red Hat’s suite of OpenShift app development platforms, Red Hat said Wednesday.

OpenShift is a platform-as-a-service architecture designed to manage public and private cloud apps as well as support programming languages such as Java, Phyton and Node.js.

Karl Heinz-Hoffmann, SAP vice president for database go-to-market strategy, said the partnership aims to give OpenShift app developers access to SAP database systems.

Red Hat’s OpenShift Online and Enterprise platforms were built through the OpenShift Origin open source cloud project.

The program is meant to support the firm’s Enterprise Linux and the SELinux multi-tenant security architectures.
