SAASM GPS receiverRockwell Collins will supply its Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module GPS receivers to Boeing for the Defense Department‘s Combat Survivor Evader Locator radio system for joint search-and-rescue missions.

The SAASM micro-GPS technology, which enables GPS coordinates to be decoded, is expected to support the CSEL system in providing geoposition and navigation information, Rockwell Collins said Monday.

Mike Jones, vice president and general manager of communication and navigation products at Rockwell Collins, said the anti-jam and anti-spoof GPS receivers are designed for military use.

“We’ve built a strong relationship with Boeing over the years,” Jones said.

They are also built in a compact, lightweight form with low power consumption, the company said.

Besides providing GPS-based location data, the CSEL radio system is also expected to deliver beacon capabilities, over-the-horizon communication relays and line-of-sight voice communication.
