healthcare itDell has partnered with Texas A&M Health Science Center to open a health technology academy to provide health professionals with continuing education focused on information technology developments in the industry.

The company and center said Thursday they hope to foster healthcare discovery and innovation through a technology-driven curriculum and training programs for students, clinicians and current physicians.

“Advances in healthcare technology today are driving improvements in patient outcomes and providing greater accessibility to quality care around the globe,” said Sid Nair, vice president and general manager for healthcare and life sciences at Dell Services.

Brett Giroir, TAMHSC CEO, the academy is intended as a think tank to lead the health sector transformation and development of a qualified workforce.

He announced the partnership with Dell during the Texas Healthcare and Bioscience Institute summit in Austin, Texas.

The academy plans to launch its first medical education program focused on health technology within the year.
