electronic health record EHRThe Defense Department has certified a Perceptive Software-made technology for achiving clinical images and documents as security compliant under the agency’s Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process.

DoD will use the Perceptive Acuo Vendor Neutral Archive system to help medical personnel manage content throughout Army– and Navy-run hospitals worldwide, Perceptive Software parent company Lexmark said Thursday.

“The DoD has extremely high standards when it comes to testing and implementing software to run on its network, especially when it involves managing sensitive clinical data for U.S. soldiers and their families,” said Jeff Timbrook, vice president of healthcare at Perceptive Software.

“This DIACAP certification provides all our public- and private-sector healthcare customers with further validation of the extensive security and reliability features built into Perceptive Software products,” Timbrook added.

According to Lexmark, the technology will work to integrate patient imaging data from the U.S. military’s picture archiving and communication systems.

Perceptive Software designed the platform for healthcare organizations to exchange digital imaging and communications across an enterprise as well as to recover data in the event of a system disruption.
