IBMlogo3 EbizIBM has partnered to combine its database systems and software with Chinese information technology company Inspur’s servers to encourage system solutions development in China.

The companies applied IBM’s DB2 class of database systems and WebSphere application server software on the Inspur K1 TS Systems server in a bid to create a solid platform from which to access big data and transaction processes, IBM said Monday.

IBM will also provide Inspur with reference designs and technical support as members of the OpenPOWER Foundation, it added.

The consortium is an open development community that works to create system solutions based on POWER, IBM’s series of microprocessors.

The Armonk, New York-based company indicated that the idea is to give local customers and independent software vendors a chance to look at real-time data and develop them into client-specific solutions and applications.

“Inspur’s growing partnership with IBM and our collaboration in the OpenPOWER Foundation demonstrates our joint commitment to fuel innovation in China,” said Sun Pishu, chairman and CEO of Inspur.
