The U.S. State Department has awarded Engility a $10.2 million contract to help the agency train West African battalion leaders and soldiers for a UN peacekeeping effort in Mali.

Engility said Tuesday it will facilitate an intensive 12-week training for military troops in Senegal, Niger and Benin under the State Department’s Africa Contingency Operations Training and Assistance program.

The two-year contract includes one base year and one option year.

“This award reflects our company’s commitment to Africa and is a tribute to the outstanding work of our professionals who are supporting the UN mission to train and equip the militaries of African nations taking part in the peacekeeping program in Mali,” said Tony Smeraglinolo, Engility president and CEO.

The company will also provide uniforms, helmets, boots, vests and other non-lethal equipment to the African peacekeeping force.
