ATK has closed several contracts on ammunition production worth a total of $65 million from the U.S. Army Maneuver Ammunition Systems.
The orders comprise ammunition for training and combat missions with a caliber range between 25mm and 120mm, the Virginia-based firm said Tuesday.
Under the medium caliber award, ATK will deliver MK310 programmable air bursting munition with tracer to Belgian defense forces while among the large caliber orders is the M1002 multipurpose anti-tank, target practice with tracer.
According to Dan Olson, ATK vice president and general manager of the armament systems division, said the MK310 works with the MK44 Bushmaster cannon to complement air, sea and land platforms.
Providing advanced rounds seeks to enable warfighters to use “existing systems to defeat future threats without the requirement for new weapons and weapons platforms,” he added.
The company manages ammunition factories in Independence, Missouri; Rocket Center, West Virginia; and Radford, Virginia.
