Big Data, AppsRed Hat and Cloudera have partnered to combine their enterprise software services in an effort to help customers extract value from big data.

The team will provide open and agile technology stack to aid clients in deploying big data solutions on premises and in various cloud platforms, Red Hat said Thursday.

Scott Musson, vice president of global strategic alliances at Red Hat, said the partnership aims to help customers “derive new insights from their data, optimize their existing investment in platform infrastructure and lower the overall cost of managing data platforms.”

Red Hat and Cloudera plan to jointly develop data platforms for open hybrid cloud transition efforts by integrating Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack platform and Sahara into Cloudera’s Director and Enterprise platforms.

The companies also intend to combine Red Hat Enterprise Linux, OpenJDK support and storage servers with Cloudera’s Enterprise, Manager and Navigator to secure data platforms.

The team also aims to provide application development tools to clients by consolidating Red Hat’s JBoss Middleware and OpenShift into Cloudera’s Kite libraries, Impala and Apache Hive connectors.
