Mobile computer (organizer) on the documentsBoeing and BlackBerry will collaborate to offer government customers an Android smartphone designed to have a tamper-proof covering and a security architecture, Bloomberg reported Saturday.

John Chen, chairman and CEO of BlackBerry, confirmed the partnership during an earnings call with investors on Saturday, according to the report by Julie Johnsson and Gerrit De Vynck.

Johnsson and De Vynck write Boeing has developed a self-destruct smartphone and is testing the device with BlackBerry’s BES middleware.

The Boeing Black phone is meant to hold two SIM cards and aims to help users connect to a satellite communications network or manage power capacity through a modular expansion port.

Boeing also designed the platform to automatically delete software and data in the event of an authorized tampering, according to the report.
