Nathan Houser, head of Deloitte‘s national security sector, said advancements in analytics, information assurance and visualization technology can aid the U.S. government’s efforts to address emerging threats.

In an interview published on Deloitte’s website, Houser said he sees national preparedness and resiliency programs as key opportunities for industry to help agencies use technology to prepare for natural disasters, epidemics, terrorist events and cyber attacks.

“Leveraging the advancement of transformational IT systems, cloud computing, and advanced analytics is integral to threat detection, prevention and prosecution,” he stated.

He added that proactive or risk-based strategies to manage supply chains, resources and networks can help public sector organizations to save money.

Houser also believes that agencies should transform back-office functions and migrate enterprise operations in a shared or cloud environment in order to increase efficiency.
