Paul Smith currently serves as vice president and general manager of Red Hat‘s public sector business, where he oversees consulting, sales and marketing, channels and strategic planning activities.

He is responsible for the business that provides services in support of the U.S. federal government’s international programs and domestic programs for state and local governments and the education industry.

Smith, who joined Red Hat in 2004, has nearly 30 years of technology marketing experience in the government marketplace and has led Red Hat’s public sector unit through a 30-percent compound annual growth rate over his tenure period.

His team’s clients include the Defense Department, Intelligence Community and health, law enforcement and finance agencies.

Smith has also worked at Veritas, Netscape Communications, Oracle and Unisys.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University, Maryland.
