networkIBM has unveiled new software and services in support of its recent $3 billion investment to establish an Internet of Things line of business over the next four years.

The company said Thursday the new offerings work to enable customers to manage the development and operations of connected devices via IoT.

“The IoT is generating massive amounts of data — data from mobile phones, automobiles, appliances and industrial appliances — that can be captured, analyzed and transformed into actionable insights, in a secure manner,” said Chris O’Connor, general manager for offerings at IBM Internet of Things.IoT news ad

In line with this, IBM is offering two new IoT industry software, three new IoT cloud software, eight new IoT consulting services based on Bluemix IoT Zone, as well as a cloud-based provisioning and lifecycle management service developed in partnership with Texas Instruments.

The IBM-TI offering works to deliver authentication functions for IoT assets using embedded silicon tokens for identification, IBM said.
