Cloud Computing, ExecutiveBizIntel has partnered with eASIC to develop technologies that integrate processing capabilities with customizable hardware in an effort to meet demand for custom application-specific integrated circuits to perform accelerated computing functions in the cloud and data centers.

Intel said Tuesday future Intel Xeon processors will use eASIC platform technology in efforts to boost flexibility and time to market and decrease power consumption for handling cloud-based workloads.

“Having the ability to highly customize our solutions for a given workload will not only make the specific application run faster, but also help accelerate the growth of exciting new applications like visual search,” said Diane Bryant, senior vice president and general manager of Intel’s data center group.

The partnership with eASIC is part of Intel’s plans to build up processing power and include reprogrammable technology with its processors, Intel said.
