HARRIS1Harris Corp. will provide satellite communications terminals, electronics equipment and associated services to the U.S. Army under $45 million in delivery orders as part of the Army’s Modernization of Enterprise Terminals program.

The company said Monday the orders are for new X-band or simultaneous X-/Ka-band terminals.

Ed Zoiss, president of Harris’ electronic systems business, said the MET terminals will work to provide communications reach-back functions to military decision-makers.

The terminals will interface with the Wideband Global Satellite constellation and serve as a backbone for military communications and missile defense systems, Harris said.

The company added that the orders — which also include engineering, installation, testing and operator training services — fall under a potential $800 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract awarded in 2009.
