IAI_HeronThales and Israel Aerospace Industries have completed a flight test of an IAI-built unmanned aerial vehicle following the installation of a data link component and Elisra’s antennas and radio frequency-based modules on board the UAV.

Thales said Tuesday the TMA 6000 data link aboard the Heron Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance UAV is designed to transmit daylight and infrared videos to land-based control stations.

According to Thales, the data link terminal complies with a NATO waveform standard, also known as the Standard Agreement 7085, for real-time delivery of images and data collected from drones’ sensors to intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance stations.

The drone is designed to fly up to 45 hours at a maximum altitude of 30,000 feet.
