Space Launch SystemDynetics and Aerojet Rocketdyne have carried out proof and burst tests to verify the structural design of the Space Launch System Advanced Booster Engineering Demonstration and/or Risk Reduction tank for NASA.

Dynetics said Tuesday the tests consisted of hydrostatic proof tests, a proof test with cryogenic fluid and a planned burst test for efforts to reduce risks in rocket boosters for the SLS program.

“We look forward to continuing to work on the ABEDRR project for NASA, as well as providing support to Boeing on the core and upper stages of SLS,” said Dynetics CEO David King.

Dynetics is the prime contractor on the ABEDRR program and assembled the SLS ABEDRR cryogenic tank at the Marshall Space Flight Center.

Aerojet Rocketdyne also completed demonstrations of risk reduction functions

for LOX/hydrocarbon rocket engine development as part of the ABEDRR contract.

The team performed the proof and burst tests at a Dynetics facility in Iuka, Mississippi.
