networkIBM and ARM have partnered to offer an expanded IBM Internet of Things Foundation platform linked with ARM mbed-enabled devices to support data analytics functions.

IBM said Thursday the integrated offering seeks to facilitate the collection and analysis of large device data volumes and subsequent decisions from the analysis.

“IoT is now at an inflection point,” said Pat Toole, general manager for IoT at IBM, noting that the company’s support for IoT development aims to “help cities become smarter, hospitals to transform patient care and financial institutions to improve risk management.”

According to IBM, the partnership with ARM works to help clients bolster engagement, operations and innovation through added functions for predictive maintenance, operational risk management and asset performance.

Devices with ARM mbed-enabled chips will be able to automatically register with IBM’s IoT platform and access cloud-based analytics services under the unified ARM mbed IoT Device Platform and IBM IoT Foundation, IBM said.
