Mike Read, formerly president of Teledyne Technologies‘ oil and gas business, has received appointment as president of the company’s marine business effective Monday.

The company said Sept. 3 Read will manage the $665 million marine business, which provides undersea technologies to the marine transportation, water resources, oceanographic research and related markets.

“I will also continue to rely on Mike for insight into our marine strategic direction, operations and investments,” added Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and CEO of Teledyne.

Read will report to Al Pichelli, executive vice president of Teledyne’s instrumentation and aerospace and defense electronics segments.

Read was president and CEO of Ocean Design Inc. before its 2006 acquisition by Teledyne.

He also held leadership positions at Raychem and Tyco International.
