F35Kitron AS has entered into a 10-year agreement to manufacture electronic modules that Northrop Grumman will use in the production of F-35 communications, navigation and identification systems.

Northrop integrates software-based radio technology into its CNI platform for Lockheed Martin-built F-35s in an effort to help pilots transmit data and voice communications during their missions, Kitron said Monday.

Hans Petter Thomassen, Kitron AS managing director, said the company has provided avionics components and test development services for the fighter aircraft program through a partnership with Northrop.

U.S. allied nations order F-35s through the Pentagon’s foreign military sales program.

The Norwegian military is scheduled to receive its first F-35A on Tuesday.
