AMGeneralLogoAM General has secured an additional $42.2 million in contract funds to manufacture High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles for U.S.  and seven international defense customers.

The company said Monday it will provide Humvees, ambulance vehicles, automotive kits, spares and training support services to the armed forces of the U.S., Iraq, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Israel, Turkey, Kenya and Lebanon.

Nearly 230,000 AM General-built Humvees have been deployed worlwide to support U.S. and foreign military operations, the company noted.

AM General will also produce M997A3 Humvee ambulance chassis vehicles for the U.S. Army under a separate potential $428.3 million contract.

The military service plans to use the M997A3s in disaster relief missions.
