alliance partnership connectDRS Technologies and Curtiss-Wright have partnered to develop a portfolio of radio frequency and microwave subsystems designed to support the U.S. Army‘s Modular Open RF Architecture program.

The alliance’s goal is to offer military customers OpenVPX-based RF and small-form-factor modules for tactical ground vehicles, Curtiss-Wright said Monday.

“Today’s ground vehicles don’t have the room or power to support the addition of all the new RF-based capabilities that mission planners desire,” said Lynn Bamford, senior vice president and general manager of Curtiss-Wright’s defense solutions division.

Bamford added the Army’s MORA is meant to help developers build rugged commercial technologies based on open standards.

Curtiss-Wright will demonstrate a tactical RF platform designed with the firm’s Intel-powered DuraCOR rugged mission processor and DRS’ Polaris multichannel wideband digital tuner at the annual Association of the United States Army forum in October.

DRS will showcase an example of another modular RF system built to integrate technologies of both companies at DRS’ SIGINT Tech Expo that will be held Oct. 14 in Maryland.
