A2100Lockheed Martin has subcontracted NEC Corp. to produce Ka-band multipack converters for installation in Lockheed’s A2100 satellite bus.

NEC Space Technologies will design the converter for the Arabsat 6A and Hellas-Sat-4/SaudiGeoSat-1 communication satellites, NEC said Wednesday.

The equipment is set for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2016.

“We are proud to contribute to Lockheed Martin with our multipack converters, which promise to help realize satellites that provide superior return on investment,” said Susumu Yamaguchi, president of NEC Space Technologies.

The Lockheed satellites are scheduled to launch in 2018.
