Rockwell Collins has tested the company’s common range integrated instrumentation system in an effort to demonstrate its end-to-end validation functions.
Rockwell Collins conducted 13 tests using an L-29 at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, in collaboration with the CRIIS System Program Office and University of Iowa Operator Performance Laboratory, Rockwell Collins said Wednesday.
“These flight tests demonstrate the mature, production ready level that the CRIIS program has reached,†said Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager of surface solutions at Rockwell Collins.
The tests were meant to evaluate compliance with Defense Department requirements, data link network ingress, uplink of GPS correction messages and network services, and downlink of Time, Space, Position Information messages.
CRIIS equipment is designed to work with fifth-generation aircraft.
