cyber, computerThe U.S. Army has announced plans to hold a contest for industry participants to build software-based technology that the military service can use to visualize cyber risks.

In a FedBizOpps notice posted Oct. 27, the Army said it aims to explore the technical feasibility of implementing a cyber situational awareness tool for echelon commands through its planned Cyber Innovation Challenge.

The branch wants a cyber risk posture visualization platform to analyze network topology, open source and friendly asset information and user and threat activity data.

The tool should also work to support information network operations as well as offensive and defensive cyberspace operations at the U.S. Defense Department, the Army added.

The Army plans to hold an industry day within the national capital region this month to discuss the new program with interested parties from the government, academic and commercial sectors.
