Alex Rossino, a principal research analyst at Deltek, writes in a blog article published Tuesday the company found that the U.S. Defense Department awarded $1.14 billion in contracts to cloud vendors over the past fiscal year and non-defense organizations issued about $1.15 billion worth of cloud contracts.

Rossino noted that FY 2015 software-as-a-service investment hit $214 million in the civilian sector and $306 million at DoD.

The government invested almost $1 billion in infrastructure-as-a-service platforms, he added.
