The State Department has called on industry to submit ideas for the management of the agency’s email in compliance with federal requirements.
The department released a request for information Monday as part of market research for commercial off-the-shelf systems and modification of existing hardware and software tools for email management.
It seeks storage, search, auditing, extraction, disposition, deduping and backup for email records management tasks through Dec. 31, 2016.
The contractor must install and test the proposed system before the December 2016 deadline set by the Office of Management and Budget and National Archives and Records Administration.
By 2019, federal agencies are mandated to transition all permanent email records to an electronic format.
