world blue mapTrimble has secured a potential five-year, $5.8 million contract to produce devices and software for the U.S. Marine Corps to perform topographic surveys.

The Marine Corps ordered M7 GPS receivers, S9 robotic total stations, TSC3 data controller systems, Business Center office software, and MX2 mobile scanning systems, Trimble said Thursday.

The M7 receiver employs a selective availability anti-spoofing module designed to operate with the Global Navigation Satellite System and is intended for military positioning and surveying missions.

Trimble has integrated surveying, imaging and scanning tools into the S9 optical surveying platform.

The MX2 spatial imaging system is designed to be mounted on vehicles and works to gather geo-referenced point data, the company noted.

Sunnyvale, California-based Trimble has built positioning equipment for U.S. federal civilian and military customers for more than 20 years.
