CubicLogoMartin Howell, Cubic director of external affairs for the transportation systems business, has been appointed to the board of directors of ERTICO’s Mobility as a Service Alliance.

“Urban mobility faces not only pressure but opportunity, where revolutionary change is necessary if we are to face the challenges of population growth and limitations on infrastructure in our cities,” Howell said in a statement released Thursday.

According to Cubic, MaaS provides a platform for demand-based transportation services such as public transport, car-sharing, rental cars, taxis and bike-sharing.

“[Howell] brings a range of experience and knowledge from his career at Cubic and shares the enthusiasm we all feel for making MaaS a reality in Europe,” said Rasmus Lindholm, ERTICO director of communications and partnership development.

ERTICO, a European public-private partnership for transport systems, launched the MaaS Alliance in 2015.

Various organizations such as universities, European organizations for intelligent transportation systems, public agencies and industry have collaborated to advance MaaS, Cubic said.
