Excelsior College has inked an agreement with the Office of Personnel Management to assist more than 1 million federal employees along with respective spouses and domestic partners in their individual pursuits of higher education degrees.

The collaboration will build on OPM’s efforts to gather new talent and support federal employees’ career development and address government-wide and agency-specific skill requirements, OPM said Tuesday.

Beth Cobert, OPM’s acting director, said the agency will work with other federal organizations to assist its employees and address potential skill gaps in the U.S. public sector workforce.

“It also will assist agencies in addressing their current and future workforce needs,” added John Ebersole, Excelsior president.

OPM said that the college will host a series of informational webinars to help federal employees learn about the alliance.

Washington-based Excelsior College offers degrees and certificates in more than 30 disciplines including business, health sciences, liberal arts, nursing, public service and technology.
