Orbital ATKOrbital ATK has secured a $16 million contract to supply DSU-33D/B proximity sensors to an undisclosed international customer through a direct commercial sale.

The company said Thursday it is scheduled to begin delivery of the fuzing systems to the customer in mid-2016.

DSU-33D/Bs uses radio frequency signals to determine the height of a weapon above a target zone, Orbital ATK noted.

Pat Nolan, vice president and general manager of the missile products division within Orbital ATK’s defense systems group, the U.S. and its allies have used the sensor technology over the past decade.

The company has provided more than 155,000 sensors to the U.S. Navy , U.S. Air Force and allied forces to date.
