The General Services Administration hosted a workshop Monday to discuss the Cybersecurity National Action Plan with government and industry leaders.

GSA Administrator Denise Turner Roth referenced demand from stakeholders for a comprehensive strategy that would help federal agencies gain access to private sector-built technology platforms in order to protect data and networks from cyber threats, GSA said Monday.

“Challenges and threats to our security develop quickly- so government has to not only move much faster to respond, we also need to have the tools to get ahead of those threats,” said Roth, an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2016.

Other speakers at the event include Federal CIO Tony Scott; Trevor Rudolph, chief of cyber and national security at the Office of Management and Budget; Jermaine Roebuck of the Department of Homeland Security; Bill Zielinski, director of information technology strategic programs at GSA; and Shon Lyublanovits, director of security services division at GSA.

GSA speakers discussed responses to the request for information on cybersecurity services, FASt Lane process, new special item number for Highly Adaptive Cybersecurity Services and acquisition platforms available through the IT Schedule 70 contract.

More than 500 event participants also learned about DHS’ incident response methods as well as vulnerability and risk assessments, according to GSA.

GSA announced the CNAP workshop in May through a notice posted on FedBizOpps.
