M777 HowitzerIndia’s defense procurement officials have approved a proposal to acquire $750 million in BAE Systems-built M777 Howitzer artillery guns through a foreign military sales agreement with the U.S. government, Reuters reported Saturday.

Aditya Kalra writes that approximately 120 of the 145 Howitzers that India plans to buy will be assembled in the country.

The report said India will send the proposal to the U.S. soon.

BAE and automobile manufacturer Mahindra entered into a partnership agreement in February to establish an India-based facility for assembly, integration and testing of M777 guns.
