deep-spaceSierra Nevada Corp. has inked a memorandum of agreement with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs to collaborate on the development of space experiment opportunities for U.N. member states.

The U.N. said Tuesday UNOOSA and SNC will team up to set up a multicountry space mission opportunity for member states to build and fly payloads for experiments on microgravity science, remote sensing or space hardware qualification.

“Our vision, in partnership with the U.N., is to provide U.N. member states with affordable access to space and a range of multi-mission opportunities using the Dream Chaser spacecraft to host a wide range of payloads,” said Mark Sirangelo, SNC corporate vice president for space systems.

The U.N. added the MOU provides a framework for cooperation and collaboration between the parties to help more countries participate in the space economy for economic, social development and educational purposes.

SNC develops space technologies and integrated systems including the Dream Chaser, a reusable spacecraft that works as a space utility and transportation system in support of low Earth orbit missions.
