airport towerCanadian Commercial Corp. has received a $7.8 million task order to design and install a flight safety software for the U.S. Air Force.

The Defense Department said Thursday the company will also provide software training, support and maintenance under the service branch’s Global Procedure Designer program.

The software will be developed to help the Air Force evaluate airports and their environment in order to identify a safe flight path for aircraft that transitions from terminal area flight operations to en-route phases of flight at low altitudes.

Canadian Commercial, which serves as Canada’s international contracting and procurement agency, will also develop charts for DoD to map aircraft at locations where the department controls radar approach.

Contract work is set for completion on June 30, 2020 and the Air Force used its fiscal 2016 operations and maintenance funds to finance the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
