cybersecurityIonic Security has received $119,000 in funds from the Department of Homeland Security‘s science and technology directorate to help develop new approaches for DHS to secure and monitor Internet of Things systems and carry out detection functions.

DHS said Tuesday that the company’s team plans to apply a new distributed data protection model to address challenges the department faces in authentication, detection and confidentiality across IoT devices.

Ionic Security will focus its efforts on how to maintain the integrity of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems, industrial control infrastructure and components within the DHS network.

The department issued the funds under its Silicon Valley Innovation Program Other Transaction Solicitation initiative that seeks to help the DHS and the homeland security mission with their challenges through collaborations with “non-traditional” performers.
