Leidos, Ford Partner on Automobile Factory Energy Savings Project; Jim Moos Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting event

Leidos has signed a $5.7 million contract with Ford Motor Co. to support energy-efficiency initiatives at the car manufacturer’s transmission plant in Livonia, Michigan.

The Reston, Virginia-based contractor said Wednesday it will install a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system at the Livonia factory under the energy savings performance contract.

Ford developed a five-year plan in 2012 to reduce operational energy use of each vehicle the company produces worldwide by 25 percent.

“Our commercial and industrial clients are recognizing the value and savings that lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, pumps and motor upgrades can provide for their overall energy efficiency efforts,” noted Jim Moos, senior vice president of Leidos’ infrastructure, environment and security business.

Leido noted that Ford uses ESPCs to replace inefficient equipment at the automaker’s factories, commercial buildings and research centers.

The Livonia plant builds six-speed transmission systems for Mustang, F-150, Transit and Expedition vehicles.
