GPSLockheed Martin has received a potential $8.6 million contract modification to provide sustainment support services for the U.S. Air Force’s Global Positioning System control segment.

The GPS control segment includes the master control station, alternate control station, six monitor stations, four ground antennas, consolidated test environment and telecommunications simulator test station, the Defense Department said Friday.

Lockheed will also provide sustainment support for both control stations’ software systems that include the GPS information network and architecture evolution plan and will perform work in Colorado.

The contract also covers the architecture evolution plan’s system simulators and Positional Training Emulator.

DoD said the service branch’s space and missile systems center will obligate the full amount of the modification from fiscal 2016 maintenance and operations funds at the time of award.
