alliance-partnership-connectThe American National Standards Institute will collaborate with the State University of New York and Flatiron School to support a U.S. Education Department initiative that aims to provide low-income students access to new higher education and training models.

ANSI said Tuesday the Educational Quality through Innovative Partnerships program seeks to assess the impact of partnerships on the accessibility of education programs for students from low-income families.

EQUIP also aims to identify quality assurance processes that suit nontraditional providers and programs as well as ways to mitigate risks associated with post-secondary education, the institute added.

Turan Ayvaz, director of ANSI’s certificate accreditation program, said the institute will work to help the Education Department measure, assess and quantify the value of training programs.

ANSI-CAP works to evaluate assessment–based education and training programs against the American National Standard ASTM E2659 that provides guidelines for certificate program development and administration.

The Education Department sought partnerships with universities, quality assurance entities and private sector education and training providers in 2015 to support the EQUIP pilot program.
