F-35 Lightning IILockheed Martin will fly its F-35 Lightning II aircraft in Canada as a participant at the 2016 Abbotsford International Airshow from Aug. 12 to Aug. 14.

The aircraft’s participation at the airshow will be its debut in Canada, Lockheed’s F-35 program office said Sunday.

“We are always thrilled to connect people with airplanes, and certainly we are ecstatic to have the F-35 make its Canadian debut right here at the Abbotsford International Airshow,” said Jim Reith, airshow president.

The F-35 features integrated avionics, sensor fusion, logistics support and a stealth function to support survivability in anti-access aerial environments.

The U.S. Air Force‘s first operational squadron comprised of its F-35A fighter fleet and the 388th Fighter Wing’s 34th Fighter Squadron is set to participate during the airshow.
