Davis Johnson, vice president of Riverbed Technology‘s public sector business, has noted legacy information technology systems and mobile cybersecurity issues as among the technical challenges facing agencies in an interview published Tuesday on Nextgov.

Johnson told Nextgov’s Camille Tuutti that he still sees highly decentralized legacy IT platforms across the government and commercial sectors.

“The government right now is really focused on how can we get a lot of that IT infrastructure out of the edge because all of those edge sites are points of attack and points of potential failure,” he said.

He added that many agencies also face the challenge of consolidating data centers and reach out to industry partners in efforts to digitize delivery of public services.
