AECOMAECOM has secured a $4 million contract to design a system for the Indiana Transportation Department to manage information on truck parking availability within the state.

The company said Wednesday INDOT’s Truck Parking Information Management System project is part of the $25 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant from the Mid-American Association of State Transportation Officials.

The TIGER program aims to address truck parking needs and the TPIMS system will be designed to also help the department share data with other MAASTO states such as Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin, according to AECOM.

“We understand the significance of this first piece of the MAASTO truck parking puzzle that will build the foundation of data dissemination and information exchange between the trucking industry, transportation agencies and the public across state boarders,” said Dan Corey, MAASTO truck parking coordinator and deputy intelligent transportation systems practice leader at AECOM.

The project is scheduled to commence this fall and be finished by spring 2017.

Ryan Elliott, a project manager at AECOM, said the company will form multiple design teams in order to meet the project completion date as well as deploy unmanned aerial vehicles to help identify the location of closed circuit television cameras that will monitor parking facilities.
